Press and Steam

I asked the kids if they were interested in ironing those long strips of fabric. As an incentive, I showed them my Rowenta race car. It offered little excitement.

However, those who participated were fascinated by the quantity of steam--especially one girl who couldn't stop pressing out wrinkles.

Billows of hot steam also meant that inexperienced little fingers felt pain. There were several times when a hand would quickly fly away from the searing heat. No burns or blisters though. Just a nippy lesson in how to find the rhythm of pressing and steaming fabric.
